Skateboarding competitions in the UK: juniors to Nationals
How UK skateboarding competitions work, from Survival of the Sickest junior events to the National Championships and the Olympic pathway.
In this guide
- What you need first: A Skateboarder Membership, which you need for any Skateboard GB event. Juniors' events are for under-12s and under-16s.
- Cost: Skateboard GB lists £10 a person per Survival of the Sickest event, plus Skateboarder Membership at £17.50 a year (checked October 2026). If money's a barrier, Skateboard GB asks you to get in touch.
- What's next: Riding track: Pipeline and the GB team. Coaching track: Get Rolling.
Survival of the Sickest
Skateboard GB calls this the UK's only junior skateboard series. It's about fun and progression, and it's a good first contest.
- One-day events at indoor skateparks through the year, in park or street.
- Under-16s and under-12s, with separate boys' and girls' categories (mixed if fewer than 3 of a gender).
- Street uses a jam format.
- Prizes for the top three in each age group and gender.
- Places are limited, so book ahead.
National Championships
Skateboard GB calls these the pinnacle of UK skate competitions. In 2026 there were park and street championships, with men's and women's events and best trick in street. Results help shape the performance pathways. 2027 dates aren't out yet, so see our British Competitions 2027 guide and Skateboard GB's events page.
Other contests
Skateboard GB's events listing includes local jams and comps. Its FAQ says bigger contests, such as Boardmasters, NASS and the Nationals, need you to ask about entry at least 4 weeks ahead, and some are invite-only, so enter smaller ones first.
Pipeline and the GB team
Pipeline is Skateboard GB's talent programme for young skaters, backed by UK Sport and Sport England. It's being redesigned and relaunches in January 2027, with details and applications due in November 2026.
Skateboard GB selects, prepares and manages the British team for the Olympics, next at LA28. Park and street are the Olympic disciplines, judged by five judges on a 0 to 100 scale. World Skate runs the Olympic qualifying events and the world rankings.
